can i say…mortifying?

I was just reading through the first 75 pages of SP before sending it to a prospective agent and was horrified to find typos! Typos! Only a few…but I regularly lecture people when I find typos in their work. I am one of the most reliable proofreaders at my workplace. I am so ashamed. Especially because I have grammar and spell-checked this manuscript at least five if not ten times. My only excuse is that spell check doesn’t catch certain names and for instance, if Amanda came up in spell check I would quickly approve it because I would assume I spelled Amanda correctly–even if I later found that I’d actually typed it Amadna. Well, you know what they say, assume makes an ASS out of u and me…and now I can only learn to live with this shame and take lesson to carefully go through every word of my manuscripts with a lot, lot more precision. It’s just so shameful. It’s the cardinal rule of writing! I can only apologize and swear to never do it again. Please forgive me!!
